How To Follow Your Dreams (Guest Interview)

August 6, 2017

I started following Coco very early on in my Instagram and now continue to follow her as a new entrepreneur.

Coco is warm, genuine and a great person to find inspiration from - all done in the most humble and compassionate way.

I am so excited to bring you some of her insights into why Mind-set really is so important for you all.

Coco Tiekle is a Business Coach & Digital Marketing Strategist for ambitious women ready to quit the 9-5, create their own version of success and go from stuck to unstoppable in building the business and life they're meant for. You can find her at cocotiekle.com and on Instagram @cocotiekle and Facebook @cocotieklecoaching

What is self belief to you?

To me, it's believing in yourself when no one else will. Often when we're starting our business, transformation or whatever journey it may be, those around us may struggle with the changes we're making, or the steps we're taking toward a better future for ourselves and question it or put doubts in our mind. This is often purely out of genuine love and concern for you and a need to keep you safe and secure, but sometimes it can be jealousy or envy, or their own insecurities speaking....believing in yourself during these times is SO important, because it's truly the first hurdle or challenge that you'll face in creating the business and life you're meant for....not only that, believe, REALLY believe in yourself and success will come right to you.

If you were to describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?

Passionate, creative and ambitious!

How have you been able to launch a business on your own - has mind-set been important?

It's actually in my opinion, more important than the strategy or marketing tactics. Building a business can be challenging, scary and uncomfortable, so if your mindset isn't aligned with coping with that then it will make the whole process a lot tougher than it needs to be. In fact, it's what I focus on in depth with my clients for the first few weeks and then throughout in my 1:1 business coaching program and really, it's what gets you results. Every successful entrepreneur you see out there has done, and continues to work on their mindset. For some, it comes naturally, but for most of us - when we begin building a business we're lacking confidence, have serious self-esteem and self-worth issues, warped money stories and a HUGE catalogue of limiting beliefs. There's no use diving head first into the business strategy and setting up the nuts and bolts without working through this first because it really makes an enormous difference to the results that you'll see - both immediately and long term!

For anyone struggling with inner confidence or finding self belief what would you say to them?

Firstly, you're not alone!

But life is too short to worry if you're not good enough, smart enough, not this or not that. Think about the way you speak to yourself - would you ever speak to a friend or a loved one like that? Chances are the answer is no! So start spending time really nurturing yourself and just being kind to yourself. Indulge in plenty of self care and self love rituals - whether that mean taking a long bath with some beautiful body oil, getting into nature for a walk and listening to an uplifting podcast, taking yourself on a date to your favourite café and enjoying a coffee or a green juice with a good book. Really start doing things that light you up! We all deserve that. And if you don't believe that you do, do it anyway!

Another exercise that I love to do is to take the time and space to delve deep into your amazing qualities, skills and gifts. Write them out and keep them somewhere you can see them often.

(In fact, at the beginning of 2016, I wrote on my bedroom mirror in red lipstick - I am smart. I am kind. I am resourceful. I am a problem solver. I am passionate. I am generous. I am beautiful. I am loved....and it's still there! I love seeing it every morning when I get dressed to remind myself that I am all of those things. At the time I was really struggling with trusting myself and believing that I could achieve anything other than my boring corporate job. I felt stuck and serious lacking in any form of self belief that I deserved more! I've done so much mind-set work on this, but seeing that message every single day, often several times a day made me stop and speak to myself, I started to understand and truly believe that I am all of those things!)

If you were talk to your past self, what advice would you give that you have learnt along this journey?

Oh my gosh, so much! But the absolute most important thing I would tell myself is to invest in a coach early on. I would have avoided the months and months of consuming every freebie under the sun, overloading my inbox with a million different courses, webinars, e-books, you name it. Running on the hamster wheel of constant content creation thinking that I needed to be doing this, this, this and that to finally launch my business. Really when I look back it at it, I was scared to invest the money in the coach I had my eye on but really what I felt was that I wasn't worthy of making my dream a reality, I was terrified that I'd fail and be essentially throwing money down the drain. When I realised that I couldn't expect my clients to invest in me if I wasn't even prepared to invest in myself, I took the leap and never looked back. It really was a game changer for me and fast tracked me to where I am now.

Being in the public eye and making an impact can be hard, how do you become resilient enough to do this?

Look, it's tough! But in 2016 I lost my Dad to suicide and honestly, it was hands down the most soul destroying year of my life and at the time I felt as if I could withstand absolutely anything else that was to be thrown at me since I had survived that year...but, the reality is that I'm human and naturally quite a sensitive person, so negativity can affect me and really ate me up in the past. I'd let one little comment consume me and my husband would get sick of me playing it over and over out loud! But I've learnt that often negative comments and opinions say a lot more about the insecurities and limiting beliefs of that person and that at the end of the day, I can't please everyone. I mean, there's over 7 billion people in this world - you can be the juiciest, ripest peach there is...and there's still going to be someone that hates peaches! I honestly think you really just need to have unwavering faith in yourself and your purpose. Passion, grit and perseverance can get you through ANYTHING. And don't forget - success comes after the point where most give up.
